The two ways a SEBI registered adviser can charge
Fixed fee. A set amount for a defined scope, such as a one-time plan or an annual review. For individual and HUF clients, SEBI's limit is ₹1,51,000 per family per year.
Assets under advice (AUA). A percentage of the portfolio the adviser advises on, up to 2.5% a year per family. The fee rises as the portfolio grows, so ask how the percentage is applied.
An adviser can use either mode, but not both for the same client at the same time. The fee is agreed in writing before you start, and an advance fee can cover at most one year.
What Advisoira charges
| Plan | Fee | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Starter Planning Blueprint | ₹25,000, one time | Two advisory sessions, a goal and cash-flow map, an action checklist. For individuals and couples. |
| Annual Advisory | ₹10,000 flat or 0.6% of AUA, whichever is higher | Ongoing advice with quarterly reviews, portfolio advisory, overlap and risk checks, tax-aware updates. |
| Family Office Lite | Custom | Complex family and founder situations: multi-goal structuring, concentrated equity, estate coordination. |
Fees exclude GST. If a client ends the engagement early, a breakage fee of up to one quarter's fee may be kept. The current fee page and regulatory disclosures are on the fees page.
How this differs from "free" advice
A distributor or agent usually does not bill you a separate fee. They are paid by the product provider, for example through commission built into a regular mutual fund plan or an insurance policy. A fee-only adviser cannot take those commissions, so the cost is visible and comes from you. Read more in fee-only vs commission-based advisers.
Neither model is automatically right for everyone. What matters is that you know who pays whom before you decide.
What to compare when you get a quote
Scope. How many sessions, what written deliverables, and how often the plan is reviewed.
The base for the percentage. If the fee is a percentage, which assets count, and is it charged on the opening or the current value.
Total cost over time. A one-time plan and an annual percentage are not comparable until you add them up over the years you expect to use them.
Execution costs. Whether you buy through direct plans yourself, and what any platform or platform fees add on top of the adviser's fee.
Exit terms. Any breakage fee and what happens to advance fees if you stop. For more on vetting an adviser, see how to choose a financial adviser in India.
Frequently asked questions
How much can a SEBI registered investment adviser charge in India?
For individual and HUF clients, SEBI limits fees to ₹1,51,000 per family per year in the fixed-fee mode, or 2.5% of assets under advice per year in the assets mode. Fees exclude GST and SEBI may revise the limits.
What does Advisoira charge?
The Starter Planning Blueprint is ₹25,000 one time. Annual Advisory is ₹10,000 flat or 0.6% of assets under advice, whichever is higher. Family Office Lite is priced on request. Fees exclude GST. See the fees page for current details.
Is a fee-only adviser more expensive than a commission-based one?
The fee is visible and paid by you, whereas commission is paid by the product provider and built into the product's cost. Compare the total cost you would bear under each model, including product costs, rather than the headline fee alone.
Can an adviser take their fee in advance?
Yes, but SEBI allows an advance fee for a maximum of one year. Check the agreement for what is refunded if you end it early.
How can I pay an adviser's fee?
Cheque, NEFT, RTGS, IMPS or UPI. Cash is not accepted. For UPI, use only the SEBI-validated UPI ID the adviser shares, and you can verify it on SEBI's UPI handle verification facility.
